Hi, I'm looking for information that would be helpful for Confirmation. I have two 12-year-old boys to be confirmed in April. Can you help?

If Judy reading this, do you envy Susan? And, have you gone to visit yet?

With thanks,
Valerie

There's a vicious cycle which perpetuates this thinking, right? Parish youth ministry --> Get young people into pews --> start eliciting their time, treasure and talent to their parish --> get new active leadership --> do more parish youth ministry.

The cycle breaks down around step 1 because most parish youth ministry spins the wheels of young people rather than seeking to equip them as disciples in the image of Christ, and so step 2 never takes place as there's nothing offered which makes sitting in a pew exciting and life giving.

We've got to help folks understand the cycle that they're in and why a model which recognises the incredible value of working together with other parishes / the diocese / denominations to do impactful youth ministry (among other things) is the only way of changing it.

Once folks are out of that very limited cycle mindset, and let go of the burden of needing to save their church building, then the big dreaming phase begins to happen.

Anglicans are coming from all over Canada!

Here's a list of Dioceses that I have heard are sending home teams:

1. Eastern Newfoundland and Labrador
2. Huron
3. Anglican Parishes of the Central Interior
4. New Westminster
5. British Columbia
6. Edmonton

Anyone else? Add your diocese to the list if there are folks coming from where YOU live to CLAY 2012.

Great read. Thank you for reposting this from Tamie's blog. #1, 3, 4 and 5 are probably some of the key reason that people are either angry at the church, or just don't feel connected with it. Specifically #1...it's so easy to tell when a church is being fake and trying to be "cool." We're an old and historied institution. That's pretty cool in itself, lets just accept it!
