Today’s the day to save the planet!

wed-1Ok, you got me, here I am talking about taking care of the environment. Again. But it is world environment day and there’s just so much we can do, I can’t help it, I want everyone to be an environmentalist.

World Environment Day, June 5

The day’s agenda is to:

  1. Give a human face to environmental issues;
  2. Empower people to become active agents of sustainable and equitable development;
  3. Promote an understanding that communities are pivotal to changing attitudes towards environmental issues;
  4. Advocate partnership which will ensure all nations and peoples enjoy a safer and more prosperous future.

The theme for WED 2009 is ‘Your Planet Needs You-UNite to Combat Climate Change’. It reflects the urgency for nations to agree on a new deal at the crucial climate convention meeting in Copenhagen some 180 days later in the year, and the links with overcoming poverty and improved management of forests.

There were lots of daily tips.

My favorite tip: Use towels for drying your face and hands instead of tissues that are used and thrown away. Also, hang your towels to dry so that they can be reused several times. You are after all clean when you use them!

Gee imagine!

Check out whats going on around the world

oh. And plant a tree!

    Does the church have an environmental program, to save the world from its self-evident decline? Any Bible studies on why we should try to save the world? Shouldn’t Canadains use paper to support our national forest product industry [paper towels] rather than using cotton towels to support foreign agricultural industries?
